Leyton Orient defender Jean-Yves M'Voto did not leave the ground at half time against Exeter City but has played his last game for the club.
Rumours circulated the centre-back walked out during the break after being taken off in his final match.
There were suggestions the Frenchman could agree a new deal until the end of the season at Brisbane Road but he is now on the verge of signing for Shrewsbury Town.
Orient head coach Ian Hendon has taken charge of his last game but strongly hinted M'Voto would not stay following the match.
Hendon said: "The decision as to whether to keep him [M'Voto] for the rest of the season was going to be made after today's game so read into that as you will."
