New Orient midfielder Nigel Atangana believes Kevin Nolan deserves to be remembered in the same class as Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.

Atangana joined the club last week on an 18-month contract after moving for an undisclosed fee from Portsmouth.

The 26-year-old is relishing the chance to work with former Premier League midfielder Nolan after his appointment as O's player-manager.

Atangana said: "It will be fantastic for me because I'm a midfielder and used to watch him as well.

"For me he's like Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard. Kevin Nolan is the same class so I'm very pleased to work with him. I'm looking forward to learn a lot with him."

The former Pompey midfielder made his debut against Wycombe on Saturday and admitted the chance to gain regular football was a key factor in his move.

Atangana said: "I'm not the kind of player to stay on the bench. I like playing and for two years I was at Portsmouth so of course it was a tough decision.

"But I don't have any regrets. Leyton Orient is a massive club so I'm very happy to be here. I will do my best for the club."
