Leyton Orient have completed the signing of Peterborough United defender Shaun Brisley on loan for the rest of the season.

O's player-manager Kevin Nolan revealed the signing yesterday and the League Two club have now finalised the deal.

Brisley will go into the squad for Saturday's home game with Cambridge United.

Nolan said: "When we spoke to Shaun he was really eager about coming which delighted me and then I wanted to get him in the door as quickly as possible.

"What it does is create competition for our two centre halves to make sure they're on top of their game. We've kept two clean sheets but they know now if they don't keep a clean sheet on Saturday one of them could get replaced and another come in.

"That's what I want to create here. I want to create competition throughout the squad which is a healthy competition not where it's back biting. I want healthy competition throughout the whole squad and bringing in someone of Shaun's quality is going to bring that."

Nolan also admitted he hopes to bring in another couple of players before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
