ORIENT manager Martin Ling admitted this week that having offered improved terms to all six of the players that he wanted to secure on new contracts that only reserve keeper Glenn Morris has agreed to stay.

And with Glyn Garner, Gary Alexander, Adam Tann, Craig Easton and Luke Guttridge all looking to try their luck elsewhere, Ling now faces the prospect of having to bring in at least ten new players before the start of the season.

Speaking to the Guardian from his family holiday in Cyprus, the O's boss said: "I was a little surprised that only one of the six players has agreed to stay with us, especially after they were all offered improved terms.

"Last season all the players at this football club received a sizeable rise after we made the step up to League One.

"The six players we wanted to retain for next season were offered a rise on that money as well, and while I didn't expect all of them to stay I was hoping that at least two or three of them would still be here next season. Of course having released six players already this summer, I'm now in the process of trying to get in at least ten new faces before the start of the season.

"I have already had some promising conversations and when the list of available players comes out this week we can start to move on other fronts as well. Other than left back we need at least one player for every other position.

"With so many new faces coming into the building I would like to think that we will start to sign people in the next couple of weeks, and with some of the big earners off the wage bill their is certainly plenty of money available to me.

"I'm already looking forward to the challenge of putting together a new squad."

While Welsh keeper Garner may move to Shrewsbury, striker Gary Alexander is rumoured to be attracting interest from Crystal Palace, Peterborough and Millwall.

Midfielder Craig Easton looks set to hook up with former manager Paul Sturrock at Swindon, while Adam Tann may be heading for Notts County, and Luke Guttridge was thought to be looking towards a Championship club.

*Meanwhile Ling and his assistant Dean Smith have signed new two-year contracts that will keep them with the O's until the summer of 2009.
