HAVING once again praised Orient fans for the support they gave him during his battle with testicular cancer, it was with sadness that defender Adam Tann has offered to hand back sponsorship money to those fans that feel let down by his decision to join Notts County.

The former Cambridge United man, who is set to take part in the Keep Your Eye on The Ball 5k run with departing midfielder Craig Easton on Saturday claims he is disappointed by the reaction of a handful of O's supporters that have sponsored him for the event.

He said: "I would like to make it clear once again how grateful I am to all the fans and people at Orient that supported me when I was diagnosed with cancer last year, because without that kind of backing I don't think I wouldve got back playing so quickly.

"And while I don't want it to sour my time with the club, I have been a little disappointed though that some people who have sponsored me and Craig are saying that they want their money back because we have left the club.

"I can understand that fans are upset that we've not decided to stay at Orient, but this isn't about us or even football for that matter it is about raising money for a cancer charity.

"If there are people out there who want their money back, I will happily meet up with them on the day and pay them out of my own pocket because I wouldn't want their money if they feel like that."

Meanwhile Tann, who claims his decision to join former Cambridge manager Steve Thompson at Meadow Lane was purely for football reasons, spoke highly of his time with the east Londoners.

He added: "Perhaps because of the illness I wasn't able to make the kind of contribution I would have liked to of made at Orient, but I still feel that I gave it my all when I was called upon.

"I was certainly proud to have played a part in the clubs promotion last season, and also help towards the end of this campaign to keep Orient in League One.

"It was a very tough decision to leave in the end because on the whole my time there has been great, and I've come into contact with lots of fantastic people there.

"But I just felt for football reasons it was time for me to move on and take on a new challenge. I still wish everyone at Orient well for the future and I hope the club can go onto enjoy more success."
