Departing Leyton Orient captain Mathieu Baudry says he wants a new challenge and a project to go forward which he did not feel he would have with the "current regime" at Brisbane Road.

The French defender is leaving the club this summer once his contract ends after turning down a couple of offers to stay.

Baudry described the last two seasons as draining and it is evident by his comments he does not feel the club, owned by Francesco Becchetti, are heading in the right direction.

Writing on Twitter, Baudry said: “To be fair to the club they offered me a couple of contracts during the season but my decision has been made for a while.

“I look forward to a new challenge, with a project to go forward, something I didn’t feel I could get here with the current regime.

“It’s a shame because we had two wonderful seasons that I will never forget.”

He added: “I was fortunate to work for the best chairman/director I’ve ever worked with (Mr Barry Hearn and Matt Porter).

“The last two seasons have been really challenging and draining mentally for a lot of reasons I don’t want to go into.”

Baudry is one of eight players leaving the League Two club this summer.
