Leyton Orient players are still in limbo as to when they need to report back for pre-season training after Nigel Atangana revealed they will be told when the new manager is appointed.

Orient have been without a permanent manager since Kevin Nolan was stripped of his coaching duties in April and Andy Hessenthaler replaced him in charge of the first team.

The French midfielder said he was not aware when the new manager would be confirmed but insisted the team will be ready for the new season.

He said: “It is always a bit tough when you have a new manager but when we find out who he is and how he wants to play football it will make a difference.

“Some want to play with the ball, some want to play more directly so we will have to learn their style of play.

“We have a good team of players to be ready for the first game of the season and we are looking forward to finding out who the new manager is.”

However, the French midfielder, who has made 16 appearances for the club, said he is looking forward to coming back for pre-season and to play football again.

“When I came to Orient from Portsmouth I hadn’t played for a few months so it was good to get to play again.

“I thought I played alright last season but I know I can give more, loads more, to the club.

“It is really difficult to play with a new team so I cannot wait to meet all the new players, the new manager and get to know everyone a lot better.

“We have lost a few players and it was tough when we lost Kevin Nolan but it will be good to see how we progress.”

The 26-year-old also said it was disappointing to see AFC Wimbledon promoted to League One in Monday’s Play-Off Final at Wembley as the O’s finished six points behind them in the table.

He said: “The whole team were all disappointed to miss out as we have the players and we could have won the play-offs.

“But next season, we are looking to finish above the play-off places and we want to finish in the automatic promotion places, so we will all be aiming for the top three.”
