The Guardian understands Luke Gambin could be set to become an Leyton Orient player after Barnet confirm they have accepted a deal for the winger.

According to the club website, Orient have placed a bid in excess of £100,000 after The Bees placed him on the transfer list.

The 23-year-old has been the subject of interest from a number of League One and League Two sides over the past few weeks.

Barnet had offered Gambin a new contract which was rejected by the player's agents who would like to see him move on or leave on a free transfer at the end of current deal.

Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous told the club website: “Luke has been a fantastic servant to the club, but we have been told in no uncertain terms that he does not want to sign a new contract.

“This has affected our preparations for the season, so we felt that we should act quickly.

"Once agents become involved we have little choice other than to try and secure the best fee we can, so we have agreed this deal with Leyton Orient.

"The player will need to agree his terms with the club.

"The money will be made available so Martin can bolster his squad

“Luke moves on with our best wishes."
