After a glorious win for Alberto’s boys up in the North-East, having waited since early September for any kind of victory, the Orient Express, one feels, is now well and truly up and running under our latest manager, writes Fan’s View correspondent Martin Strong.

So we’re still only two points from the dreaded bottom two, but surely and more realistically for the likes of Ollie Palmer and the rest of our wonderful squad, we are just five away from the coveted top seven.

I, for one, have every faith in Francesco Becchetti’s appointment, indeed I can see there being red faces in Sampdoria at the end of the season, with the powers that be at the Italian club wondering why on earth they ever got rid of Alberto five years ago, in his last managerial post.

I gather he had many tempting offers to manage from all parts of the globe since the last of the many sackings he appears to have suffered in his illustrious career.

But from what I understand he turned them all down hoping he would one day be offered that ultimate job – becoming the top man at Leyton Orient Football Club.

And his patience after half a decade of waiting was finally rewarded in September, when he landed the big prize.

There is enough time for him to turn the season around, that’s for sure, and I am sure he will.

Mark my words it won’t be long before we’re all heartily singing: ‘He’s got no hair but we don’t care, Alberto,’ at Brisbane Road as we go storming up the league.

It goes without saying, of course we won’t heap 100 per cent of our appreciation on Cavasin for the feat, as we all know the great man himself, Becchetti, will be very much there in the background assisting his employee on picking the team and utilising his vast football knowledge of the lower leagues.

He, too, will be given much praise for the upturn in the form of the lads. Waste disposal may be the way his fortunes been made, but he’ll soon be able to watch Palmer regularly dispose League Two defenders.

Having won away last week, our home form will surely turn around now, starting this Saturday against Crewe as we welcome back captain fantastic Robbie Weir, hopefully for longer than 30 seconds this time round.

He, as I’m sure the rest of the boys will, will do Francesco and all the supporters proud as we head towards League One in the coming months.

Yes as far as the O’s go it’s surely a case of ‘Il solo modo e in alto’ (the only way is up) over the winter.

Up the O’s.
