Leyton Orient took on League One side Sheffield United who have went 11 games unbeaten and lost 6-0 in the FA Cup first round.

Goals from Chris Basham, Kieron Freeman, Stefan Scougall and a hat-trick from Harry Chapman were enough to see Orient succumb to an absolute thrashing.

The O’s had a slight ray of light in their side as Alex Cisak made some good stops but the goalkeeper was let down significantly by his defence.

Alberto Cavasin, who has now lost five of his six games in charge, will once again need to ensure his side work on set pieces in training ahead of their League Two match against Colchester in six days’ time.

The first chance of the game fell to the E10 side as Sandro Semedo tried from outside the box but his shot blazed over the bar.

A minute later Ollie Palmer found himself tussling with Jake Wright and was almost one on one with keeper Aaron Ramsdale but the latter got down well to make the save for a corner.

And just shortly afterwards United had their first chance as the ball fell to Daniel Lafferty but he could not keep the shot down and also flew over the bar.

Mark Duffy was causing all sorts of havoc for the O’s defence but Callum Kennedy managed to clear the ball off the line but the Blades kept pushing for an opener.

They got their just rewards in the 23rd minute as Basham headed the ball in past Cisak after Orient once again could not clear from the impending corner.

But the pressure did not end there as Kieron Freeman found space in the area but curled a shot wide as the O’s struggled to keep up with the pace of the League one side.

Orient tried to get themselves back into the game as Callum Kennedy swung a cross into Ollie Palmer but the Blades defence cleared.

The bad news started for the visitors as Palmer came off the pitch in the 35th minute as Jordan Bowery came on to replace him.

And it got much worse from their as the hosts doubled their lead through Scougall as he found the far corner of the net.

Sheffield made it 3-0 just before half-time as Freeman headed into the back of the net and it seemed to be curtains for Orient in the FA cup.

Things did not get any better for Orient in the second half as Chapman found the net and United’s fourth within five minutes.

From then on it was one way traffic as the home side gained chance after chance and Orient could not hold onto the ball for any lengthy period of time.

United should have made it 5-0 after a terrible pass from Tom Parkes but Cisak saved with his legs from Paul Coutts after Chapman’s lay off.

Chapman scored his second of the game in the 69th minute, some Orient fans left Bramall Lane and shortly afterwards Paul McCallum came on for Jay Simpson.

The O’s only chance of the second half was when Alan Dunne picked out Gavin Massey with a good pass and he delivered the ball into McCallum but the striker could only head over.

Chapman rounded off the game in fine style as he scored his hat-trick in added time after another mistake from the O's.
