Former Leyton Orient assistant manager Kevin Nugent will take caretaker charge of Charlton Atheltic until a new permanent boss is appointed.

Nugent takes over from Russell Slade who was sacked on Monday after less than six months in charge.

The 47-year-old was Slade's number two and he has had previous spells as caretaker at Orient and Swansea.

Nugent will be assisted by first-team coach Simon Clark and Chris O'Loughlin who has joined the stagg at The Valley.

The Addicks sit 15th in the League One table and will host Port Vale on Saturday with a 3pm kick off.
