Leyton Orient fell to their eigth home defeat of the season losing  2-1 to Blackpool at Brisbane Road.

Jamille Matt and Tom Aldred’s goals were enough to seal the win for the Seasiders who have not won away since September.

Paul McCallum pulled one back for the home side just before full-time but it was to be a consolation.

Both sets of fans held a protest before the match because they are both fed up of the way their clubs are being.

The visitors looked like they would open the scoring first as they kept pushing the O’s defence deep into their own half as Captain Danny Pugh volleyed a shot over the bar.

Nigel Atangana quickly got down the other end but his shot from outside the area was easily collected from Sam Slocombe.

A minute later Alex Cisak was called into action as he got down well to deflect a Brad Potts effort behind for a corner which came to nothing.

Gavin Massey and Jay Simpson combined well to get a breakaway with the former trying a shot before the referee called it back for offside.

In the end to end game Colin Daniel tried to score for Blackpool but once again he could not keep the ball down and it went over the bar.

And it was Blackpool who got the just rewards as Matt shoved Yvan Erichot off the ball and smashed home the opener.

Massey almost got the instant equaliser a minute later but his wonder strike came bouncing off the post and back into the box.

Michael Collins thought he got his first goal for the club after signing three weeks ago but it was correctly ruled out for offside.

The midfielder came close again before the end of the first half but it was pushed out for a corner which came to nothing.

Orient made an early sub in the second with Erichot making way for Alan Dunne.

And not before long Orient’s trouble was doubled as Aldred added the second for the Tangerines. It was somewhat controversial as Massey called for hand ball and was subsequently booked.

The game seemed to tail off with neither side gaining the breakthrough although Blackpool looked more likely to get the third goal of the game.

Colin Daniel thought he had scored for the visitors but it was disallowed and Orient were given the free-kick.

Brad Potts almost made it three after he beat Cisak but Tom Parkes tracked back to clear the danger.

Sandro Semedo ran up the field trying to reduce the deficit but his shot went high and wide over the bar.

It looks as though Alberto Cavasin will need to go back to the drawing board once again for the visit of Exeter City on Tuesday.

McCallum was able to reduce the deficit just before full-time as he headed into the back of the net past Slocombe.

But Blackpool held on for the win and the three points.

Both sets of fans held a protest before the match but for the O's faithful it did not have the positive effect they hoped for.
