Leyton Orient manager Andy Edwards felt his side had a good first half performance but failed to match up in the second in their 1-0 loss to Wycombe Wanderers.

Former O’s player Scott Kashket scored the only goal of the game to come back and haunt the club he left in the summer.

Paul McCallum had a goal disallowed in the first half, four minutes before the break, but the east London club failed to have any shot on target in the final 45.

“I thought the first half performance was very good, I think we played an on form side at the moment, seven games on the bounce coming into today’s game,” said the 45-year-old.

“We knew what they were about, I thought we recognised our game plan and stuck to our own in the first period.

“Created some half chances especially with Gavin Massey being a reveal threat down the right-hand side, limited them to a couple of half chances at best, Alex Cisak did not have to make a save all game.

“From a defensive point of view, I thought we were strong, we were solid and we were organised, but the one slip and it has cost us.”

Callum Kennedy was stretchered off on the hour mark after landing awkwardly after making a vital clearance to keep the score at 1-0.

When asked how much of a blow that was in their second half display Edwards said: “I thought Myles Judd went into left-back and had an assured performance from a 17-year-old.

“He done great, Teddy came on and that was his second appearance for us. He has been out injured for seven, eight months now.

“I don’t think it affected. I don’t know how serious his injury is we have will have to wait and check it in the next couple of days and see what the medical staff say on that one.

Commenting on his side’s limited chances in the second period the O’s boss said: “We played against a side that was disciplined and organised. I think it was always going to be a game of few chances and that is how it panned out to be.

“At the goal that Scott took, it was maybe similar to Jay’s chance in the first period. Jay was unfortunate that, that one didn’t go in.

“We were up against a team who are in the top four against a team who are in the bottom four who are finding things hard. I really did not think there was much in the game.”
