Leyton Orient recorded their first back-to-back home win since August 2015 winning 3-2 against Crawley Town in their packed festive period at Brisbane Road.

Sam Dalby scored on his first-team debut for the club with Paul McCallum scoring twice to cushion their lead heading into the second half.

However, it was an unfortunate first start for French O’s defender Teddy Mezague who scored an own goal before Enzio Boldewijn scored the Reds second.

Andy Edwards will hope the O’s can produce another spectacular first 45 when Cambridge United visit on Saturday.

Dalby started the game up front for the dropped Jay Simpson and showed why Edwards went with the youngster after he scored in the fourth minute from a Nigel Atangana cross.

The striker almost made it two shortly afterwards when McCallum headed a ball back into the box but the former was unable to reach the ball.

But it was not long before the home side made it two when McCallum slid home a Gavin Massey cross from a Michael Collins free-kick.

The first chance for the visitors fell in the 23rd minute when Alex Cisak had to push away a Jordan Roberts cross before Mezague made the vital clearance.

Boldewijn had a good chance to reduce the deficit for the Reds when he was found by Lewis Young but Myles Judd was on hand to clear the danger.

Crawley showed they had some life in them yet when Roberts sliced the ball back for James Collins who tried a shot from the edge of the area but Cisak easily saved.

Sandro Semedo displayed some lovely footwork once again after linking up with Judd and crossed into the box for McCallum who could only head towards Glenn Morris. Deep into stoppage time of the first half Orient had a huge penalty appeal waved away by Trevor Kettle when McCallum’s knocked down looked to be handled.

The O’s soon made it three when Massey was brought down in the penalty box and McCallum calmly slotted the ball into the left hand corner.

It was a shaky start for Orient in the second period and Crawley pulled one back in the 54th minute when Boldewijn pressured Mezague into turning the ball into his own net.

Kettle made a shocking decision with half an hour left to play when he did not give Massey a penalty when the winger was impeded by a Reds defender in the six- yard box.

Orient looked like they could have conceded another when Young’s cross caused some panic in the O’s box but Tom Parkes was on hand to make a challenge before Cisak collected.

Boldewijn continued to cause the O’s defence some havoc when he cut the ball back onto his right foot but was once again denied by Cisak.

In an end-to-end game, Massey could have made it four when Atangana found him in some space but the winger took the shot too quick and it went wide of the post.

And Crawley soon made the end of the game a nervy finish when Cisak came off his line and Boldewijn scored the visitors second from nothing when he rounded the Australian.

The O’s had to provide some last-ditch defending in the final 10 when Mezague denied Boldewijn before Cisak punched the ball clear.

A brawl ensued two minutes before full-time when Parkes was brought down in the box and Nicky Hunt and Crawley’s Collins were both booked.

Orient remained camped inside their own half when Mark Connolly tried to find the equaliser but the hosts held on for the vital three points.
