Leyton Orient midfielder Michael Collins is close to agreeing a contract extension with the Brisbane Road club.
The news will come as a timely boost for Orient fans after the departures of Jay Simpson, Jordan Bowery and Alan Dunne earlier this month.
Rumours had been circulating that Collins would follow the trio out of the club, but he now looks set to extend his stay in a boost to embattled O’s boss Andy Edwards.
Collins has made just 12 appearances for Orient this season, but his experience could play an important role in their attempts to avoid relegation from League Two.
Edwards is not expected to be given any funds to strengthen this month and a statement on the O’s website last Friday stated the club will continue to promote from within.
The O’s travel to Mansfield on Saturday where they will look for a much-needed three points as they attempt to revive their ailing season.
