Leyton Orient received their first point in 2017 after they drew 1-1 with Yeovil Town in a League Two fixture at Huish Park.

Francois Zoko opened the scoring in the first half from a rebound shot but failed to capitalise on their chances to double their lead.

This allowed Gavin Massey to score a precious equaliser, two minutes from time to secure a point as the O’s look to avoid relegation.

It is a much-needed boost for boss Danny Webb and his players as they travel to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night.

Orient gained the first chance of the game when Michael Collins broke into the Yeovil half and picked out Nigel Atangana.

The Frenchman took a touch but saw his shot saved by Artur Krysiak as the ball went out for a corner, which came to nothing.

Eight minutes later, Zoko bullied his way past two Orient players and took a shot from 20-yards, but the chance was soft and Sam Sargeant easily collected the ball.

Liam Kelly made his impact known early on in the game when he regained possession inside the Yeovil half.

He played it forward to Rowan Liburd who could only drag a shot wide from the corner of the penalty area.

Yeovil gained another chance, 20 minutes into the game when Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro fed the ball out to Ryan Dickson on the left but the former Orient loanee’s cross was claimed by Sargeant.

In what should have been the first goal of the game, Orient countered from a corner and had a great one-two opportunity with Sandro Semedo and Massey but the former went alone and his shot was blocked.

Two minutes later, Rowan Liburd did well to meet a Nicky Hunt cross but the forward could only head the ball wide of the target.

The Glovers then had two chances in quick succession when Ben Whitfield played in Liam Shephard but the full-back was only able to smack his effort into the side-netting.

A minute later, the hosts were back on the attack but this time Zoko curled well over the bar.

Massey showed his flare once again in the 36th minute when he turned well and drove forward before playing it out to Myles Judd who managed to win a corner.

Semedo’s delivery was flicked on by Kelly which was eventually cleared just before the skipper went for goal from the edge of the area but it was held by Krysiak.

Shortly afterwards, there was a break in play after Semedo delivered in a wonderful ball into the box which was punched away by the Glovers keeper but he collided with Liburd who tried to head the ball into the net.

Yeovil eventually took the lead in injury time when Zoko lashed the ball into the net following a super save from Sargeant off of an Eaves chance.

Orient made a change at the start of the second half which saw Callum Kennedy come on for Yvan Erichot and Massey had a shot within the first minute of the final 45.

But the winger’s chance from distance was held by Krysiak.

The Glovers went close to adding a second with half an hour to play but Eaves’ powerful shot drove wide of the post.

Orient did not give in and Kelly found some space in the Yeovil area but his shot was gathered by Krysiak.

The O’s kept pushing for the equaliser and Massey managed a great run down the left and rolled the ball across the area, Paul McCallum dummied but Josh Koroma fired wide.

After Kelly was booked for a harsh decision by referee Darren Deadman, Matthew Dolan drilled a free-kick from distance straight into the arms of Sargeant in the 75th minute.

The game began to quiet down until Eaves tried to double the lead for the home side with five minutes to go but he riffled a shot over the bar.

Chance after chance fell for Orient and they eventually got their just rewards in the 88th minute when Massey smashed home from close range after McCallum had headed down Koroma’s cross.

The O’s looked to push on for the winner but McCallum glanced a Kennedy cross wide and game finished at 1-1.
