Danny Webb said it was a ‘credit to his Leyton Orient players’ that they received their first point of 2017 in a 1-1 draw against Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

Francois Zoko opened the scoring in injury time of the first half from a rebound off of a Thomas Eaves shot.

But The Glovers could not double their lead and this allowed Gavin Massey to score a special equaliser two minutes from full-time.

When Webb was asked how much Massey’s late goal will help psychologically he said: “Hopefully it will help.

“It is also a shame as Notts County won. I think a point could have taken us out of the bottom two if they had lost.

“But Psychologically it is nice for the boys to come in on Monday, or even just spend the day with their families tomorrow and not have that we lost again hanging over them.

“They have been great in training. They have made me, as a positive person anyway, remain positive.

“They have given me the sort of feedback I want with how they train and their body language. And there was a 15 minute period in that second half where you think is this going to be our day?

“Are they going to pull through it? And I think the subs made a massive difference and it gave people that lift.

“They kept going and I think if we had another 10 minutes we would have won the game.”

Sam Sargeant once again produced a fine performance and managed to make a great save from Eaves before Zoko lashed the rebound home.

Webb discussed the defenders not reacting as quickly as their opposition and said: “I think it was hard as the shot took a big deflection.

“I think as defenders you think it is going to go one way, and in the last minute it goes another. I did have a chat with Myles (Judd) after as I think it was Myles’ man who scored.

“And I just said as you get older you have got to have about 15 eyes on the back of your head as a player, especially at first team level.

“It was not a mistake from Myles but he will learn from that and this time next year that person does not get that shot on goal.”

Vice-captain Liam Kelly made a return to the starting XI and it proved to be a great addition to the midfield as he created chances, defended well and his leadership was well noted on the pitch.

Webb said: “I spoke to Hunty (Nicky Hunt) before and I said I am giving the skipper back to Kels (Liam Kelly) today and he was fine with that.

“I think people like Hunty but I don’t want to through too much at him just because he is a senior pro.

“He sort of runs the dressing room, and he’s captain, he’s playing left-back, playing centre half then he’s playing right-back.

“It is not fair to keep throwing too much at him. I just thought with Kels first game back, give him the captain’s armband and he leads by example.

“I think the players thrive off his energy, his enthusiasm. He is street-wise, I think we have missed that.

“It was a bit cute and hopefully, hopefully he will go from strength to strength. I wasn’t too pleased when he had the air shot but Massey (Gavin) put it in and I was alright.”

Orient travel to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night (7:45pm kick-off).
