Leyton Orient's players and staff have not been paid their wages, it has been revealed.

They were all due to be given their wages today but as of yet have not received any.

It is the latest news in what has been a tough week for the O's as Danny Webb resigned from his role on Wednesday night, after reportedly having a dispute with owner Francesco Becchetti, as first team manager.

Earlier this month, the east London club were served a winding-up petition from HMRC on March 1 over an unpaid tax bill, believed to be around £125,000-£250,000.

The Italian has since paid that bill but more creditors have since taken over the petition in the form of Central Events Management, Waltham Forest Council and the club photographer.

Chief Executive Alessandro Angelieri gave a witness statement in court to say Becchetti would put in a £1million injection to pay off the debts.

Orient will appear once again at High Court on June 12 after they were given a stay of execution.

The Leyton Orient Fans Trust took to social media and said they were disappointed by the news.

"We're hearing from multiple sources that players and staff at the club haven't been paid today.

"This throws into severe doubt whether the £1m promised to the court by Becchetti is actually real if he can't find a much smaller amount for the wage bill.

"We will do all we can to offer advice and support to the staff at this worrying time. We are extremely angry at their treatment.

"But to be clear, the Regeneration Fund can't be used to pay club's bills while Becchetti remains in charge. He has to go - now."

It is not the first time this has occurred at E10. In 2015, players and some staff were not paid but were eventually.

A club source confirmed this news to be true and the EFL have been approached for a comment.
