Leyton Orient's youth academy are set to take part in a tournament hosted by Valencia FC later this month.

The event is set to take place from Thursday, April 13 to Sunday, April 15 in Spain.

Questions were raised by the O's fans how the trip was funded after it was revealed last week players and staff are yet to be paid their wages for March.

It is believed this issue will be resolved by tomorrow and the PFA are also aware of the situation.

The club said: "The trip was funded by both the club and the parents of the children attending."

And on the club website it explained the tour in more detail: "This will be the first time a foundation phase age group will go on tour outside of the UK and as part of their development programme, the Under-10s and Under-11s will take part in a five-day tournament which will host sides such as Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Spartak Moscow and Espanyol.

"This will give our young players an opportunity to develop organisational skills, independence, team cohesion and a positively unforgettable experience that will live with them for the rest of their lives.

"As part of the tour, we will visit the Mestalla Stadium and Valencia C.F academy, whilst taking part in a series of group games which will lead to a knockout phase in the latter part of the tournament.

"Everyone at Leyton Orient wishes our youthful academy products the best of luck during their time in Spain."
