Leyton Orient Women are set to celebrate winning the South East Premier Division by playing their last league game at Brisbane Road.

The ladies will face Fulham Foundation on Sunday (2pm kick-off) after what has been a very successful season, securing promotion to the Women’s Premier Division.

Orient added the Mayor’s Cup to their title and are hoping as many O’s fans as possible will venture down to the Matchroom Stadium to cheer them on.

They usually play at the Mile End Stadium but are thrilled to be given the opportunity to appear at the men’s first team’s home.

Captain Danielle Griffiths said: “We are all very grateful for the opportunity to play our last league game at Brisbane Road and are thankful for all at Leyton Orient who have enabled this to happen.

“It will be a fantastic experience for all of the girls, following off the back of winning the league championship, and all Orient supporters are welcome to come down and watch on Sunday to show their support for women’s football.

“I hope that we can finish the season with a flourish.”

When asked, to sum up, their title-winning campaign, Griffiths said: “Winning the title and promotion to the Women’s Premier League with two games remaining is the pinnacle of what has been a fantastic season.

“The team’s achievements are testament to the hard work and the performances that all of the players have put in week in, week out and is nothing less than the girls deserve.

“With the league and cup double still possible, our focus is on the League Cup final, which would be a fitting end to the season, before preparing for the challenges that await in the Premier League.”

Top scorer Sophie Le Marchand, who has scored a whopping 39 goals, added: “Winning the title this season is a monumental achievement for the club and is truly testament to the unwavering commitment of coach Chris Brayford to the team.

“Five years’ worth of blood, sweat and tears in this division have finally culminated in this wonderful group of girls being able to call themselves champions.

“We’ve come close a few times over the years, but have never quite had the legs for it.

“This season, however, we struck upon the perfect blend of ingredients that make a title-winning side: quality, class, fitness, experience and, most importantly, team spirit.

“There is an abundant volume of talent in this team, but ultimately what got us over the line was simply the fact that we are a team that really cares and looks out for each other.”

Tickets for Sunday’s match cost £3 for adults, while entry for Under-16s is free and fans will also be entered into a free raffle. Entry to the ground will be via gate H of the West Stand.

The Supporters’ Club will also be open after the game where there will be Italian gelato on offer from the team’s sponsor Il Gelatio Di Ariela.
