Steve Davis has accused his Leyton Orient players of lacking fight during their 1-0 defeat to Macclesfield Town on Saturday.
The O's went down to Scott Wilson's header, which came in first half stoppage-time, and Davis felt his players didn't do enough to turn the game around.
"We didn't show the fight that they did and there is definitely a large portion of players who are underperforming," Davis told the O's website.
"We are carrying seven or eight players and you can't win games doing that.
"Whenever we have gone behind, we have rarely shown the desire, the fight and determination to comeback. Occasionally we have but not enough for a team of mine.
"I have given them both barrels in the dressing room, been honest and pointed some fingers. They need to know where I stand and how I feel about there performance."
Davis has previously tended to avoid publicly criticising his players and Saturday's comments represent a change of tact for the O's boss.
