Matt Harrold is unlikely to feature for Leyton Orient again this season due to the hamstring injury he sustained against Woking just over a week ago.

The striker was replaced by Dan Holman early on against the Cards after he limped off following a fairly innocuous incident during the opening moments of the game and hasn’t been seen since.

The news will be a blow for Harrold, who arrived from Crawley Town in the summer, after he had started back-to-back league games for the first time since December against both Eastleigh and Woking.

Harrold has scored three times in 24 National League appearances for the O’s this campaign, largely being deployed from the bench by Justin Edinburgh since his arrival in November, and Orient assistant coach Ross Embleton confirmed that the striker is unlikely to feature again this season.

Speaking in the tunnel after Monday's game against Maidenhead United had been postponed, Embleton said: “I know Matt has had a scan over the last few days and it wasn’t as positive as Matt would have hoped. I don’t know the real severity of it because we have been travelling and we’ve been here there and everywhere, but it’s not looking great for Matt at the moment.

“I think, as has been the case with a lot of our injuries, it will be a case of trying to get himself fully recovered and then be prepared to come back and hit the ground running when pre-season starts. Yes, we’d love to see him back, but at the moment, I think we probably won’t.”
