Leyton Orient head coach Justin Edinburgh hailed the performance of Jobi McAnuff after his display against Wrexham on Saturday.

The 36-year-old, who penned a new one-year-contract at Brisbane Road earlier this year having returned to the club last summer, played a crucial role in Saturday’s win, setting up the only goal of the game when his cross was nodded home by Macauley Bonne at the far post.

McAnuff has proven himself to be a key member of the O’s midfield this season, notching five goals in 38 appearances in all competitions, with his performances earning him a nomination for the club’s Player-of-the-Season award.

Speaking after Saturday’s win, Edinburgh was delighted with the performance of the former Reading and Crystal Palace man, with the O’s head coach relishing the prospect of working with him again next season.

Edinburgh said: “He’s been incredible for me. I look forward to having a full season with him because I think at the ripe old age of 36, I think he probably covered the most distance again today.

“He’s got class and he’s a man who has played at the top level. His approach to it is quite remarkable and credit to him.”

Those thoughts were echoed by club captain Charlie Lee, who praised the 36-year-old’s work both on and off the pitch.

He said “He’s immense. We’re very lucky to have him. There are teams at a higher level than us who would want him and he’s just brilliant.

“What he does on the pitch is good, but it’s what he does off the pitch as well. Day-to-day in training he sets the standard. You won’t get one bad word said about Jobi McAnuff.”
