Former Leyton Orient man Nathan Mavila has earnt a move to National League South side Hampton and Richmond Borough.

Mavila joined the O’s on a short-term contract earlier this year from Wingate and Finchley in the Bostik Premier League but was released at the end of the campaign by Orient, having failed to make an appearance or even feature in a match day squad during the second half of the season.

Explaining Orient’s decision to release Mavila at the end of the season, director of football Martin Ling said: “The only releasee as such was the young lad Nathan Mavila who was under contract. We feel he did ok but that he was maybe one level down from here, so probably Conference South.”

The 22-year-old has wasted no time in finding a new club, though, with the defender joining Hampton and Richmond Borough, who just missed out on promotion to the National League last season having been beaten by Braintree Town in the play-off final last month.

Hampton and Richmond Borough are now managed by former Hendon boss Gary McCann, who replaced Alan Dowson after he left the club to take up the vacancy at recently relegated Woking.

Mavila is one of eight new signings made by McCann, with former Wealdstone man Ricky Wellard and ex Billericay Town midfielder Josh Mcleod-Urquhart moving to the Beveree Stadium as well.
