Dagenham and Redbridge have snapped up former Leyton Orient loanee Lamar Reynolds from Newport County.

Reynolds spent the second half of last season on loan at Brisbane Road making 12 appearances in all competitions, helping Orient secure a 13th place finish in the National League.

However, the 22-year-old failed to dislodge the likes of Jobi McAnuff and James Brophy in the starting line-up and he returned to Newport County after the O’s last match against Gateshead.

But the young winger will be playing National League football once again this campaign having penned a one-year deal with the cash strapped Daggers, who recently appointed Peter Taylor as their new manager.

Dagenham finished in 11th place in the National League last season but it has proven to be a tumultuous summer for the club, with long serving manager John Still departing for Barnet and a number of players leaving for pastures new.

Reynolds, who has trialled at Jamie Vardy’s V9 Academy and scored 28 times for Brentwood Town two seasons ago, signs for the Daggers after just one year with League 2 side Newport County, where he made 14 appearances, scoring one.

Speaking to Dagenham’s website, Reynolds said: “It is a great opportunity for me and this club is so local to me so it's like a dream come true. The manager obviously knows the game very well and I think with my inexperience in the higher-class game I believe that he will help me to adapt and show my skills.”
