Ross Embleton admitted that he was ‘delighted’ to prolong his stay at the Breyer Group Stadium having recently signed a new two-year deal with Leyton Orient.

The O’s assistant coach returned to East London last year, having previously worked as Orient’s youth development manager during Martin Ling’s time at the helm.

Embleton initially worked alongside Steve Davis upon his return last summer, but stepped up to manage the team on an interim basis when the former Crewe boss was sacked by Orient in November.

He then returned to his role as the club’s assistant coach after Justin Edinburgh’s arrival last year and helped the 48-year-old turn Orient’s fortunes around, with the O’s going on to achieve a 13th place finish in the National League last season after a strong end to the campaign.

Embleton was not the only member of the club’s staff who extended their contract at Brisbane Road either, with current director of football Ling, chief scout Steve Foster and Danny Webb also penning new two-year deals.

The move is perhaps a further sign of Orient’s growing stability under Nigel Travis’ ownership and Embleton said he was pleased that his efforts over the last year had been recognised.

He said: “I’m delighted. For me, it was a topsy-turvy season last year like it was for everyone. There’s never a huge amount of stability in football but being at a club like this and looking forward to the season ahead, it was really reassuring and nice to know that first and foremost, Justin recognises that we’ve built a good relationship and the work I have done has been recognised.

“Personally, that’s really nice. But for the club to support that and offer me a new deal is fantastic.”

On his relationship with Edinburgh, Embleton added: “He’s been great. My aim, like anybody in any business, is to show the people who are in charge that you’re the right type of character and that they can trust you. Those personal qualities are recognised straight away.

“Then it’s about my work and whether I can coach or not and whether I can deliver the type of work and sessions that Justin wants to see from his players. I think the contract extension shows that.

“But personally, I think the relationship that we’ve built up on a day-to-day basis reflects that even more. We’ve got a very good way of working. We got on really well and we’ve got a great atmosphere around the training ground, so we’ve built up a good understanding of how we work.”
