Ross Embleton has called on Leyton Orient to make their mark in front of the BT Sport cameras as the O’s kick off their National League campaign with a trip to Salford City tomorrow.

Orient travel to the Peninsula Stadium in good form, having enjoyed a successful pre-season which saw them pick up victories against Harlow Town, East Thurrock United and Concord Rangers as well as a credible draw against League One’s Southend United.

It has proven to be a summer of stability for the O’s, with just two new arrivals moving to the Breyer Group Stadium in the shape of Dale Gorman and James Alabi.

Newly promoted Salford, who are owned by the Class of 92, have adopted a different approach with the reigning National League North champions appointing a new manager in the shape of ex Scunthorpe boss Graham Alexander, while also snapping up a host of new players, including Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney.

Both teams are among the favourites for promotion this season but Embleton was keen to stress that Saturday’s result will not determine Orient’s fortunes in the long run.

He said: “Clearly, and as we should be, both clubs are being touted as big contenders in the league. I don’t think Saturday will confirm who goes on to win the league or who will be successful.

“There’s always pressure and there would have been whoever we would have faced this weekend because it’s the start of a new season and we all want to do well. For us, it’s pressure and excitement and a great opportunity for us to finally get started and make our mark against potentially the league favourites.

“I think it goes without saying that they (Salford) are going to be competitive. It’s not a massive club in terms of history but it’s a club that has certainly made its mark already. I’m certainly looking forward to it.

“We know that this time last year, it was us that everybody was looking at, as they will be again, but it will be nice to go there against a team that are going to have as much expectation on their shoulders as we have, albeit that their history doesn’t compare anywhere near to ours. We are really excited about going there and making our mark live on the TV to everybody else in the league.”
