LEYTON Orient are still waiting to find out what riches beckon following the news this week that Sky and the BBC have agreed a television deal which will pump millions in the Football League.

The two media giants have paid £264 million between them for a broadcasting contract which will see Championship matches and Carling Cup games shown on terrestrial television.

From the 2009/10 season, the BBC will show ten live Championship games a season and a full highlights programme. It also won the rights to broadcast two legs of the Carling Cup semi final and the final.

The mega deal is a 135 per cent increase on the current arrangement secured with ITV and Sky.

League chairman Lord Brian Mawhinney supports the deal, adding: "Everyone knows that the gap is enormous between the Premier League and the Championship.

"The solidarity payment we agreed with the Premier League and our new sponsorship deal with Coca-Cola helps, and now we have a new record telvision deal which will help to close the gulf."

The financial gains for Orient will depend largely on Martin Ling's men winning promotion from League One and going on a cup run.
