INGER JJ Melligan has vowed to fight for his Orient place after a mixed first season at Brisbane Road.

The 26-year-old has found himself placed on the transfer list by manager Martin Ling despite having two years remaining on his O's contract.

But having found it difficult to initially settle his young family in London, Melligan has vowed to try and rediscover the impressive form he was displaying at Cheltenham prior to his move to Orient.

Reflecting on events, Melligan said: "Like all the players, I was asked into a personal meeting with the manager at the end of the season and he told me he was putting me on the transfer list.

"Of course I was surprised, because I don't think my first season had been that bad.

"Yes, it hasn't gone as well as I would've liked, because I've had some bad games along the way, but then it is always hard finding your feet at a new club.

"I've just moved down to London after ten years in Wolverhampton and have found it hard to adjust as well as having a new baby to contend with.

"Of course that isn't an excuse, but I have found my life a bit all over the place this year.

"But hopefully if I get my head down and work hard over the summer I can come back raring to go in pre-season.

"Of course I want to show the manager and possibly some of the fans that they were wrong about me, but I know it is no good just talking about it you have to go out there and prove it on the pitch.

"Hopefully I can start to find my feet and show people the form I was displaying week-in week-out at Cheltenham, as I don't want to leave Orient."

Melligan has also moved to quash any suggestions of a dispute with manager Ling.

He added: "No, there have been no arguments, he just feels that I've not played as well as I can and that is his opinion.

"That is football though, because it is a game of opinions and it is just up to me now to prove to the gaffer that he was wrong."
