DESPITE being in the twilight of his career Uefa Cup Winners' Cup winner Danny Granville is still hungry for more glory after completing his move to Orient.

The 33-year-old former Chelsea, Leeds, Manchester City and Crystal Palace player signed last week on an initial one year deal with the O's, with the option of a further season, following his release from Colchester.

And having seen his one and only season at Layer Road hampered by a groin injury, Granville is looking to get his career up and running again.

He said: "I'm really excited about joining Orient and I believe the club can look to better last year. I'm not sure whether this will be the last club I play for, but as far as I'm concerned I want to push on and hopefully help the club achieve something while I'm here.

"I might be 33 but I'm more hungry than ever. I know some people might think the older most players get they lose that desire to do well but certainly haven't. I want to get myself in good shape and hopefully add my experience to the squad.

"Martin Ling did say he is normally reluctant about signing players of my age, but he feels I can still bring something to the table.

"Last season didn't go as well as I would've like at Colchester because the club got relegated, and I also felt hindered by a groin injury I had. But I've had a minor operation now to mend a tear on my inguinal ligament, which is similar to a hernia operation.

"Already with the work I'm doing it feels ten times better and I believe I can show people what I'm really capable of. I've already picked up the fitness programme the other lads at the club are working off and I just can't wait to get back for pre-season and get going because I'm really excited about being here."
