ADRIAN Patulea is Leyton Orient's latest summer signing having joined from Lincoln City.

The Romanian rejected an offer from the Imps in favour of a move to Brisbane Road and he joins the O's on a free transfer.

He has signed a two year deal with Orient which begins on Wednesday, July 1, as boss Geraint Williams continues to rebuild his side.

Speaking about his summer capture, Williams said: "He scored a lot of different types of goals last season for Lincoln. There were volleys and shots from outside the area but he is also a goal poacher.

"He's come from a different country and has done well. I am sure the lads will welcome him because the camaraderie is good here.

"Goals are a premium in this league. He will link up well with Scott McGleish but Ryan Jarvis can also play up front."

Williams has not ruled out further summer signings but revealed he will not break the bank to bring in new recruits.

"The chairman has given me a budget but if I started paying transfer fees that budget wouldn't last very long," he said.

Patulea arrived in English football with Lincoln last year and after impressing in a pre-season trail. He showed his commitment to Lincoln by running round the training ground with his wife on his back.

But his move to the north Midlands was almost scuppered when Petrolul Ploiesti demanded a transfer fee, despite initially suggesting he was available on a free transfer.

But Sincil Bank boss Peter Jackson managed to agree to sign the striker for an undisclosed fee and the Romanian began his career with Lincoln in fine form scoring the second goal in City's 2-0 win against Barnet after coming on as a substitute.

He went on to score 11 goals from 17 starts and 14 substitute appearances during his debut season in League Two.

But his spell at Sincil Bank ended on a sour note with Jackson claiming Patulea used the fans against the club in order to get a better contract.

Targoviste-born Patulea began his career with Rapid Bucharest before moving to Astra Ploiesti and then transferring to Petrolul Plouesti.

He joins Scott McGleish and Ben Chorley as the O's new signings this summer.
