SEAN Thornton was vowed Orient will come back strong from defeat to Oldham.

The midfielder had a tough game at Brisbane Road on Saturday as he conceded one penalty and then was denied a late spot-kick himself.

The O's lost 2-1.

“It was really frustrating” Thornton said afterwards. “It was a weird game, stop-start all match”

“We've got to move on quick now and luckily enough we've got a match on Tuesday night. We just want to bounce back. It was disappointing but we'll put it right and get back to playing football.

He revealed his anger at some key decisions by referee Graham Scott during the Oldham game.

“The penalty was so blatant to me. The guy just took me down. The referee said he didn't see it, but it's just easier for him not give it than to give it.

“Sometimes the standard of refereeing is quite poor. You should let the game flow. There was a free kick for every challenge in the first half”.

Now Thornton wants Orient to erase memories of the Oldham game by focusing on Tuesday's league match against ex-Premiership Charlton Athletic.

“We're an up and coming team with a good manager and a good bunch of lads” he said.

“They (Charlton) wouldn't be in this league if they were that good”.

“We've got the same number of bodies on the park, that's the way we look at it. That it's Charlton has no affect.”

He also said Orient should not get preoccupied with the upcoming Carling Cup tie against Stoke City, and concentrate on a successful league campaign instead.

“We don't even talk it (Carling Cup). The league's the most important thing. The Cup is a bonus. It's not like we're going to win it.

“We've got to do well in the league and try to get out of it. We've got a good enough squad to be in the play-offs this year. That's not just getting carried away, it's being realistic.”
