Russell Slade has made his first move since the loan window reopened yesterday with the capture of Huddersfield's Tom Clarke on a 93-day emergency loan.

The 23-year-old joins until December 10 and can operate in midfield or in defence.

Clarke came through the youth ranks at the Terriers and has earned three England caps, playing at U18 and U19 level.

Speaking to the club's website, Slade said: “Tom has played a part in getting Huddersfield to the play-offs in this division for the last two years, so we're pleased to get him down here and into our squad.”

He continued: “Tom can play in midfield or as a defender too, but it's in midfield that we'll be looking to use him initially.”

O's fans could see a further arrival before the day is out after Slade said he expected to have two new faces in the squad for tomorrow's trip to Colchester United.
