Russell Slade admitted MK Dons were better than his Leyton Orient side in most areas after the O’s fell to a 4-1 defeat last night.

The hosts took the advantage early on when Charlie MacDonald converted at the near post but Kevin Lisbie’s ninth goal of the campaign restored parity.

Shaun Williams put the Dons back in front, leaving Orient trailing by one at the break, but late strikes from Jabo Ibehre and Daniel Powell saw the O’s beaten.

And Slade admitted his side were taught a lesson by their promotion chasing hosts.

The manager said: “I thought we were competitive enough in the first period. I am disappointed obviously with the goals that we have conceded, but we battled back to get to one each.

“We have not tracked a runner for the second goal which is really frustrating. That gave them a slender lead at half time.

“There wasn’t much in it then for the next 20 minutes or so, but I think the third goal killed us off.”

He continued: “There were just a couple of headers late on. There was Mooney and Calvin Andrew, and there was a long range effort from Coxy, so we were toothless in the second period, but this is a difficult place to come.

“It is a lesson for us. They were better than us in most departments to be honest. When I say a lesson, it is where we need to be.

“We want to play football, we want to play football like them. But to be honest, they were better in most departments.”
