After watching his side fall to a 4-1 defeat at MK Dons on Tuesday night, Russell Slade said he felt his players were letting both him and themselves down at present.

The O’s travelled to Stadium:mk looking for back-to-back victories having overcome London rivals Brentford on Saturday, but after creating just a handful of chances in the second period, they were unable to fight back into the contest.

Charlie MacDonald had put the hosts in front after just three minutes but Kevin Lisbie levelled proceedings ten minutes later from a corner.

Shaun Williams restored MK’s lead midway through the half before strikes from former O Jabo Ibehre and Daniel Powell settled the tie after the break.

And Slade has called for his squad to show more consistency as they look to haul themselves away from the relegation scrap.

The manager said: “We have got a talented bunch, but it has got to be that consistency that they have got to strive for and believe in.

“We try to give them that belief. We try to make them feel that they can do things and be positive with them. That is my manner, that is my way with them.

“They are letting me down a little bit at the minute and they are letting themselves down.”

The manager admitted to his disappointment at the way in which the goals were conceded, as MK’s strength from wide positions got the better of Orient.

And with ten games to go and some players out of contract at the end of the season, Slade is looking for his side to roll their sleeves up as he has to make a number of decisions ahead of the next campaign.

He continued: “I am really disappointed. I thought they caused us problems, especially down the sides. We have not stopped the ball coming across or we have been beaten too easily on too many occasions.

“It is just a little bit of a soft underbelly at times and that disappoints me because I hate that in teams. I don’t like that and I don’t like to see that.

“I like to see us roll our sleeves up and that is what I have asked for between now and the end of the season with ten games to go because I need to make decisions on people between now and the end of the season.

“What I do want is that work ethic, that togetherness and that sense of responsibility individually and collectively from my players.”
