Russell Slade believes his side created enough chances to be comfortably in front before Notts County opened the scoring on their way to a 3-0 victory at Brisbane Road.

The O’s were well on top in the first half and should have gone into the break in front but Kevin Lisbie and Jimmy Smith were both unable to apply the finish.

Orient were still looking dangerous going forward but the visitors took the lead with Smith off the pitch receiving treatment, as Damion Stewart benefitted from a dropped cross to net.

Further strikes from Jeff Hughes and Lloyd Sam gave the score a flattering look as the O’s were left to rue not capitalising on their openings.

“I thought we created a bundle of chances, particularly in the first period,” said Slade.

“Even in the second half, Jimmy Smith has had a wonderful chance and Lis has had a chance too. I thought we created enough chances to be comfortably in front and for 65 minutes, I thought we were bossing the game and we were playing well – we were playing with a swagger.

“The goals are disappointing. The one that we have given away, Jamie (Jones) has dropped it, it is as simple as that. We failed then to clear it and they got a goal which is a really fortunate goal.

“It is kind of like an uphill battle from there. We have got to get back in it and we are chasing the game once again.”

Asked if the pressure was now on the players ahead of Monday’s trip to Exeter City, he added: “There is always pressure on players for sure but it is how you handle that pressure. I think today we went out there and there didn’t seem to be a lack of confidence.

“It is just one of those. It is not a 3-0 is it? It’s ridiculous. But that is the scoreline at the end of the day.”

“We have to take that on the chin. We have to move on and we have to be positive for the next game.”
