Leyton Orient have been handed a trip to Tranmere Rovers for their first league game of the season.

The fixtures for the upcoming 2012/13 season were released this morning and have handed the O’s a visit to Prenton Park to kick off their league season on Saturday, August 18.

Last season saw Orient suffer a 2-0 defeat to Rovers on their travels but they will hope to get their campaign off to a solid start when they visit Ronnie Moore’s side.

Slade’s side will make their first appearance at Brisbane Road the following Tuesday (August 21) when they welcome Stevenage before hosting Hartlepool United four days later.

That home double will be followed by back-to-back away days at newly promoted sides, with the O’s first travelling to Crawley Town (Saturday, September 1) and Swindon Town (Saturday, September 8).

The O’s will do battle with fellow Londoners Brentford on Saturday, September 15 (home) and Saturday, January 5 (away), while visits to the other promoted sides from League Two come on Saturday, September 22 (Crewe Alexandra) and Saturday, March 9 (Shrewsbury Town).

Coming down from the Championship are former Premier League sides Portsmouth and Coventry City as well as Doncaster Rovers.

The O’s will meet Doncaster on Saturday, September 29 (home) and Saturday, January 19 (away), while the clashes with Pompey will both be played on a Tuesday night. Those matches will take place on November 20 (away) and March 12 (home).

Coventry visit Brisbane Road on Saturday, October 27 while the Ricoh Arena will provide the setting for the final away match of the campaign (Saturday, April 20).

The O’s have been handed a home double-header over the Christmas period as they welcome Swindon on Boxing Day before Walsall visit on Saturday, December 29.

New Year’s Day will see the O’s hit the road as they make the journey to Huish Park to take on Slade’s old side Yeovil Town.

Scunthorpe United will welcome Orient for the first game of the Easter period on Saturday, March 30 before a home tie with Bury two days later on Easter Monday.

Having finished last season at home to Rochdale, the O’s have again been handed a Brisbane Road date to bring the curtain down on the campaign, as Oldham Athletic visit on Saturday, April 27.
