Leyton Orient’s Capital One Cup clash with Charlton Athletic will take place on Tuesday August 14 with a 7.45pm kick-off.

The O’s were drawn to face the League One champions last week and with the date for the match now confirmed, it will mark the opening of the new campaign for both clubs.

Last season saw Russell Slade’s side enjoy a good run to the third round of the competition before they were beaten at then-Premier League side Blackburn Rovers.

Orient edged past Southend United in round one on penalties before enjoying a 3-2 success over Bristol Rovers at Brisbane Road, with Stephen Dawson’s injury time effort adding to goals from Ben Chorley and David Mooney.

Mooney was also on target in the next round at Ewood Park alongside Dean Cox but the O’s journey in the competition was brought to a halt as they found themselves narrowly beaten 3-2.

Charlton will provide the opposition this time around and the teams will be familiar with each other having met twice in the league last season.

A solitary Matthew Spring effort was enough to give Slade’s side victory on New Year’s Eve but the Addicks had their revenge with a 2-0 success later in the season.

Tickets are not yet on sale but prices have been slashed for the fixture, with adults able to get in for £10 while the price for under-21s and over-60s is £5.
