Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade insists Jobi McAnuff has the right mentality to fit into his group after the O's agreed a deal to sign the winger.
The former Reading and Crystal Palace attacker will join Orient on a two-year contract, as long as he passes his medical, which is a major transfer coup for the League 1 side.
But Slade believes it is crucial that the midfielder's character and work ethic will complement his squad and he would not have signed him on talent alone.
Slade said: "To be honest it's all about my group really and Jobi is a really good type. The important thing is even if you bring players in from a higher level I just need them to be of the right ethos in buying into what we are doing here. He fits that criteria so that's why I've gone for him.
"Of course his experience is very valuable. He's a good player and a clever player. I think he's got cleverer as he's got older and he will bring plenty to the table if we manage to get him."
