Leyton Orient manager Mauro Milanese was pleased after watching the O's claim their first home league win of the season, but was left ruining the lapse which saw Crewe Alexandra grab a consolation.

Orient were 4-1 winners at Brisbane Road and goals from Gianvito Plasmati and Chris Dagnall saw Orient go into the break 2-0 up.

The irrepressible Dagnall then had a hand in goals from Dean Cox and David Mooney either side of Anthony Grant’s blockbuster.

However the O’s were not at their composed best after Grant’s strike from distance and the Railwaymen threatened to make the final 20 minutes uncomfortable for the hosts before Mooney netted off the bench.

Reflecting on his first three points as O’s boss, the Italian mused: “It is normal that when we win we work better in the week and we are more confident.

“You saw also when they scored at 3-0 we were a bit scared and we lost confidence straight away. I think if the lads understand that if pass the ball and create chances throughout the side we can create a lot of chances.

Milanese added: “One goal can change the game – especially if you are 3-0 up and they make it 3-1. That happened so I need to work more on that with the players.”

The win is Orient’s first at Brisbane Road in the league since their final home game of last season – a 2-0 win over Tranmere Rovers – and the former Inter Milan defender was pleased by his side’s performance in E10.

“It was important to win and we have a clear week to play this game very well,” explained Milanese. “We played very well and the lads were fantastic during the week, so I was confident today they could have a great performance. I am happy for supporters who can enjoy this afternoon, the first home league victory – everything was very good.”

Asked if Orient’s maiden three points at Brisbane Road this season could pave the way for a surge up the League One standings, he replied: “It is difficult; it is a tough league and anyone can win against anyone – it doesn’t matter if you play home or away.

“The concentration made a difference, the attitude made a difference, we pressed, organization, but also the spirit. We need to build up our confidence a little bit because I think this team has always got spirit and belief and presses. Sometimes we create chances and don’t score and make mistakes at the back cost us points.”
