Southend United have confirmed their interest in signing Leyton Orient's out of contract striker David Mooney.
It seems increasingly unlikely Mooney will be at the club next season with Southend declaring an interest in the Irishman.
The striker, whose contract expires at the end of this month, is looking to remain in League One following the O’s relegation, and has been linked with both Colchester and the Shrimpers.
United boss Phil Brown told the Southend Echo: “It’s true that David and Anthony [Wordsworth] are two of the players we’re after. I think they are exactly the type of players we need here and hopefully we can bring them in.”
