Leyton Orient will travel to Cheltenham Town for the first game of the 2016/17 season on Saturday, August 6.

This tie will be Andy Hessenthaler’s first game as the permanent O’s boss in the League 2.

Orient’s first home game will be to Newport County on Saturday August, 13 with the O’s staying at Brisbane Road for their following fixture against Stevenage.

Last season they beat Stevenage 3-0 at home and Hessenthaler will hope his team can make another strong start to their campaign as they won their opening five matches.

New signing Gavin Massey will face his old side Colchester United, who were relegated from League One, at the Colchester Community Stadium on Saturday, November 12.

The home game against the U’s will be at the Matchroom Stadium on Saturday, April 19.

Barnet FC visits E10 on Saturday, January 10 while the O’s travel to the Hive on Saturday, October 1.

Ex Orient captain Mathieu Baudry will face his old side at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, November 26 and he will return to Brisbane Road on Saturday, March 18. 

The Portsmouth away fixture, who narrowly missed out on a play-off final place after losing to Plymouth Argyle, comes on Saturday, January 14.

The O’s have been given two home games over the Christmas period as they face Crawley Town on Boxing Day and Cambridge United on New Year’s Eve.

They travel to Exeter City on the bank holiday fixture on Monday, January 2 where they will face ex team mate Lloyd James.

In the final fixture of the season, Orient will travel to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Saturday, May 6 kicking off at 3pm before the League 2 play-off final on Sunday, May 28 2017.
