Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has confirmed Russell Slade is doing consultancy work for them while the club resolve their settlement with Leyton Orient.
Slade resigned as O's boss last week but this has still not been accepted by the club. There have been reports Cardiff agreed to meet his £100,000 release clause but it was still rejected.
Tan told Sky Sports News: “We now have a little problem with Leyton Orient but that is being sorted out.
"He is helping us a little bit on consultancy until he can sort out his contract. Then we can officially hire him.
"I think he will make a good manager for us. All I can say to the Cardiff fans is give him a chance, give him a break.”
