Leyton Orient manager Fabio Liverani understood the reaction of the supporters after they booed their team during the 2-0 defeat at Barnsley.
The O's produced arguably their worst 45 minutes of the season in the first half as they conceded twice to the hosts. Orient fans jeered their players and berated them as they walked off for half-time. But Liverani, who has lost his opening two matches, had no complaints about their reaction.
Liverani, who is the club's fourth manager of the season, said: "Thanks to all the supporters that travelled today before Christmas. I accept the fans booing the players and not just the players but the staff as well because we're all in it together.
"The first half performance was poor but on the other hand the second half was much better. We played with guts and heart after half-time so I'm hopeful for the rest of the season."
His first match resulted in a defeat at home to Peterborough and the Italian believes his side dropped their standards this afternoon compared to last weekend.
Liverani said: "It was different to the last match. We played well last week but this was not a good match. There is a lot to work on and it's a step back compared to the previous game."
The club's latest defeat has left them joint bottom of the League One table only one year after the side sat top of the division. Liverani accepts the difficulty of his task but is optimistic of catching the sides above them and avoiding relegation.
The former Genoa coach said: "When I arrived we were third from bottom and now we're joint bottom. But it is also true that the distance between mid-table and the bottom is very small and only about four or five points so hopefully we will get better in time."
