Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill criticised the antics of Leyton Orient and counterpart Fabio Liverani after their victory at Brisbane Road.

The Robins boss was angered by Liverani’s failure to shake hands following last night's match and was also angered by the decision to water just one half of the pitch at the break.

Cotterill told the Bristol Post: “That was a pleasurable win for us to be honest. Whenever I’ve come here before, this club has always been a great club. But some of the football they played was not very good and some of their antics were an absolute nonsense.

“I wouldn’t want to play football like they play. It’s direct, everything is a second ball and they don’t shake hands at the end of the game. He (Liverani) might need to learn some manners if he’s going to manage over here.

“They watered the pitch at half time, just the one end that they were attacking, not the other end. So-called sprinklers breaking was a load of rubbish. It’s a nonsense and it cannot be allowed.

“They (Orient) are always a mental and a physical challenge and we have overcome that. I thought they were predictable in the second half. They have some good players and it’s a shame they have to play like that.”

When asked about some of Cotterill’s comments, Liverani replied: “Normally if I win 3-1 I don’t complain about anything.”
