Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon has confirmed the club will not be offering a contract to Danny Gabbidon.

The former Cardiff City and West Ham United defender played 45 minutes of the O's win at Colchester United on Saturday but was not involved in tonight's 4-0 victory at Woking.

Orient completed the signing of experienced former Millwall defender Alan Dunne on Monday and he made his debut in their latest friendly. His arrival appears to have been a key factor in the decision over Gabbidon.

Hendon said: "I've spoken to Danny's agent and that's not going to happen now.

"Alan's not played much football over pre-season to be fair so he's playing a little bit of catch up. He's been training at Millwall doing some stuff over the summer but he's not played many minutes. I think you've seen what he's about in the first half.

"He's very experienced, knows what to do when he's got the ball, organises and I was very pleased with what I saw in the first 45 minutes. That was the plan to give him 45 minutes and then come off so I was delighted with his first performance."

Orient were rampant in the first half, scoring all four goals, and Hendon was very encouraged by the quality of their football.

He said: "The first-half performance, after the first five minutes, was exceptional. We created chance after chance and if we took a bit more care possibly could have had some more.

"We made a few changes second half and the back four haven't worked together because of so many trialists and things like that. But all in all it was a good night's work. We kept another clean sheet and scored four goals."
