Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon admits he would still like to add to the squad with the transfer window shutting on Tuesday.

The O's maintained their 100 per cent record as the League Two leaders defeated Bristol Rovers 2-0 at Brisbane Road this afternoon. But Orient's squad is still very small and Hendon is keen to add to his options with the midfield appearing to be his priority.

Hendon said: "It's not a case of strengthening. It's having another body in the building that can step in and do as good as the boys are doing that are out there at the moment.

"You could say strengthen but we need another body in there because if we have an injury, sending off, suspension or anything like that. We need someone the way we're playing because we've got three in there so we are going to need another one."

The O's have been linked with Peterborough midfielder Jack Payne all summer and Hendon has still not conceded defeat in the club's bid to sign him.

He said: "Everyone keeps asking me about Jack. He's a player we'd like to have here, it's as simple as that. He'd be a good member. He came away with us pre-season and fitted in well but we'll have to see what happens."

A first-half penalty from Lloyd James and a superb individual goal from Jay Simpson fired Orient to their fifth consecutive league win.

Hendon said: "It's very enjoyable [at the top]. It's far better to be there than anywhere else that's for sure. It was a good performance again and another good result.

"We said all week it was going to be a tough game and we knew their record away from home and they've started in the league very well.

"We knew they were organised and the shape they played was very similar to what Newport played last week. That caused us a few problems last week and I think the lads coped with it much better today and I thought the victory for us was the right result."
