ORIENT: Pre-season regime begins

11:11am Wednesday 1st July 2009

ORIENT have begun pre-season training.

The new-look, slimmed-down squad join up today, as boss Geraint Williams gears up for his first full season in charge.

Two of his new signings, defender Ben Chorley and forward Adrian Patulea, introduced themselves to their new team-mates.

And Williams has been playing his cards close to his chest on which new faces are still to come.

"There are other areas that need improving still, but we'll keep that under the hat until we get people into the building,” he said. “I think it's wrong when you go out and say 'we need this and we need that'

because it alerts everybody else.”

Williams said he was happy with the three players he has enlisted so far to replace the 13-squad members shown the door at the end of last season.

Veteran hitman Scott McGleish has made his loan deal permanent with a one-year deal.

Chorley and Petulea have each signed two-year contracts.

"He (McGleish) is a big character and I'm looking forward to working with him again,” Williams said.

"Ben Chorley will add steel to the team. He's 6'3'' and he played a huge part in Tranmere's fine defensive record last season. I was really pleased to bring him in and he will have a bit of bite at the back.

"Adrian Patulea is a goalscorer. We'll have him around the pitch playing his football, but what he does is get in the box and score all types of goals.

"Seventeen starts, 14 substitute appearances and 11 League goals last year was a good record for Lincoln and we're looking forward to working with him too” Williams told club sources.
