ORIENT skipper Stephen Purches admitted he was due a goal, after the 5-0 win over Bristol Rovers last night.
Purches opened the scoring on 26 minutes, after he was denied twice before.
“I've been getting forwards as much as I can, and had a couple of shots which got blocked. I thought it would be third time lucky. Fortunately it was” he said.
“I've been due a goal.”
Hours before kick-off, right-back Purches told Guardian Series Sports how his failure to score this season was starting to get to him.
But that was soon forgotten when his deflected strike into the bottom right corner set Orient on their way.
After that, the Pirates were left ship-wrecked on rocks at Brisbane Road.
“You looked around and you could see the hunger in everyone's eyes” reflected the captain.
“We carried on from the second half of the Carlisle game (last weekend). We deserved everything we got.”
