ORIENT slipped to another disappointing defeat, this time against one of their relegation rivals.
After a poor showing at MK Dons on Saturday, manager Geraint Williams demanded an improvement.
He started with James Scowcroft and Jonathan Téhoué as a forward pair for the first time.
Luke Ashworth deputised at centre-back for Ben Chorley, out with a hamstring strain.
But the visitors struggled to carve out chances and were poor in and around the penalty area.
Meanwhile, Chris Taylor for Oldham caused Stephen Purches plenty of problems on the right wing. Oldham fully deserved their win at Boundary Park.
Deane Smalley slotted home the opener from close range in the first half, before Dale Stephens added a second early in the second half.
Orient have now gone seven games without a win.
